Paula Ginn is a friend and frequent visitor and helper at Ye Olde Forest Quilt shoppe in Greensboro. The shop featured a mystery quilt project recently and this is what Paula's choice of fabrics,  pattern unseen, created.
If you look closely, you will see a variety of smaller blocks and some unusual sashing. The angle of this picture shows an altogether different layout that I had not seen before. Stand back & you will see large octagons too.
    Fascinating quilt.

Mar 28: Quilt top, backing and batting just arrived.
Apr 25: Picked out Bottom Line taupe for thread & Flowering Fern for IQ pattern.
Apr 26: Started prep for loading
Apr 27: Explored density using EQ7 & IQ.
Apr 28: Started yesterday and finished trimming red threads on and near white fabric so they won't show through. Loaded, basted, quilting.
Apr 29: Still quilting. Day pictures are better. And quilted.

YES! This is a quilt of just Christmas trees. Paula tells me this is made from 14 fat quarters and she has been collecting fabric all year to get enough reds & greens & whites to make this. Very special quilt. We have discussed using Kim Diamond's Christmas Lights. I have drawn the top pattern in EQ7 to use to figure what we want here.
Oct 19: Reviewing IQ patterns with Paula. There are several options but none just right.
Oct 20, 22: Sandy is working on a IQ pattern for Christmas Lights When you don't like what is available, you ask Sandy. It works every time!!
Oct 25: Paula approved the layout sort of. I get to make the final decision. I will be quilting this sideways as I think the pattern has better flow when turned back normal. I have also offset even rows by 50% so it is very difficult to see the pattern repeats which is what we want on this one.
Oct 26: Quilting

Now that Paula has longarmed a few of her own quilts, I am very happy to be doing these two for her. Gorgeous and very interesting patterns!! The red quilt was pieced by a friend of hers.
09/26: Quilted the red one
09/27 Loaded the green & coral one
09/28 Quilted.

This is exciting for me. I met Paula the day the original quilt shop opened on August 30, 2008. The first quilt top I made was almost identical to one she had just done! It seems we have similar conservative tastes. More often than not we get to say hello as she will pop in right when I am there. She is a prolific and precise quilter SO I am very pleased to longarm one of her beautiful quilts! This quilt uses the Park Avenue line of fabrics like used on this one. Thanks, Paula! Your quilt is gorgeous as usual and the pattern is so interesting!! The longarm pattern is baptist fan almost.
