This is one of many projects I bought early this year & have been wanting to work on. I found this kit by Fons & Porter and fell in love with it.
Apr 30: Today I got all the pieces cut out so I am off to a pretty good start.
May 12: Started making the star blocks.
May 13-14: Continuing with the star blocks - 12 in all.
May 15: Star blocks are done.
May 16: Center of top is together. Quilt top is finished.
Just got in a very bright and colorful quilt pieced by Becky Leonard of Virginia. Only the backing is flannel. I'll be doing the binding on this one as well. Becky has shared the story behind this quilt in her comment. Without a doubt, this is a special quilt for a special young lady.
Apr 22: Preparing backing and top to load. Seams in the backing should be pressed open and all seams on the back of the top should lay flat. I like to use an iron to touch up any extra creases or folds that cannot be helped when shipped. IQ is programmed with a 7.5" high pattern. (Becky, let me know if you think the dragon files pattern needs to larger/looser.)
Apr 23: Finished loading & basting. Ready to quilt. And quilted! Posting a lot of finished pictures because they came out so well. That doesn't usually happen. Must be a magic quilt.
Apr 24: Binding is now attached. Hand binding is underway.
Apr 26: Binding is finished.
Just got in a jelly roll race quilt pieced by Melodee Zamudio of California. When I asked her to pronounce her last name, she added that it came with her husband from Mexico! LOL. This is a first quilt and the beginning of a new hobby.
Apr 17: Loading...basting...quilting...quilted.
Actually this is Andrea's first quilt ever. The adorable appliqués on this also feel so like Florida. Waterspout will top this off nicely. I am going to quilt everywhere except in the three blocks with the appliqués. A friend will finished the quilting on her machine with some stitch-in-the-ditch, some outlining & some stippling. I am sending some invisible smoke monopoly with the quilt for her to use to tack down the appliqués if needed.
Apr 16: Loading...Basting...Quilting...Done!
