My RedBubble friend and amazing poet, Kristin Reynolds, wanted this quilt as a present for her daughter whose birthday is in June. She will be 6 years old! I pieced it for Ye Olde Forest Quilt Shoppe as a sample shortly after they opened their doors in the fall of 2008. My daughter later gave it back to me to finish and sell. At last, it has a home!!

Moda Jelly Roll of 1930's fabrics. Backing is 1930's Turquoise Vintage Solid. Fabrics purchased at Ye Olde Forest Quilt Shoppe
Quilt Top Pattern: A variation on "Spiral Strips" from Jelly Roll Quilts book by Pam & Nicky Lintott
Longarm Design Pattern: 1930's Flower Panto by Sandy Daugherty especially for this quilt. The flower design is taken from the fabric itself.
Size: 64 x 64

Two small quilts came in yesterday from Joan. The first is a Noah's Arch theme panel. The second is small vibrant quilt made from the remnants of a larger quilt Joan has been talking about since we met. If this is a prelude, then super WOW!
Noah's Ark quilted on 04/03/2011. Teal & Purple quilted on 04/04/2011.

I knew I wanted to use the Vintage Butterflies in a quilt the moment I saw the fabric. Joanne worked her magic & put it together for me. I will make this as quickly as possible for display as a shop sample until I get a buyer! This will be my 4th project using the pattern  "Just Can't Cut It" by All Washed Up. It is a great pattern when one wants to feature a particular fabric. The blocks are large & simple with only a few points to match, so the piecing is a snap--just what beginners need & what quilt shops sell!

I looked and looked for a wheat pattern but alas, none would do. I asked Sandy! She came up with a simple wheat design that can be used in a variety of ways. I love it!

Size 76x88

This quilt is for sale.
Here are my other "Just Can't Cut It" projects.

This amazingly beautiful quilt has 100 9" square blocks arranged in 10 rows and 10 columns. Starting in the upper left hand corner, the blocks gradually get darker towards the lower right hand corner. So many different fabrics so beautifully laid out. Impressive!

When I made my quilt from this fabric line,  I was hesitant to use the reds I originally selected so I bought more fabric and made some blocks that were more subtle. When I went with my original plan, I packed up my leftovers and rejects, knowing i would never use them and shipped them with her last quilt. Here they are back again incorporated along the diagonals of this quilt, the 4th quilt made from the Park Avenue fabrics I will longarm. Each is so very different! The other three are:
  1. First one pieced by Joan
  2. Pieced by Paula Ginn
  3. Mine
Seeing the amazing things she has done with "mishmash"(her term for what I call hodge podge) lately, I now dub her Queen Joan of MishMash!! For the record, she purchased her Park Avenue fabrics sight unseen from Ye Olde Forest.Quilt Shoppe owned by my "kids". She didn't even select the fabrics or the qualities, just named the price she was willing to pay. Park Avenue mishmash looks pretty darn good in these quilts! Great job, Joan! You have my undying respect and admiration!!!!

Under tables, in the closet, projects pile up!! So much to look forward to!!
